Elon Musk‘s relationship with Ashley St. Clair reportedly came with financial strings attached, but what happened after she made one very public decision is now raising eyebrows.
St. Clair is revealing it all in Alex Gibney’s documentary, Musk, which opens in theaters on October 16. The former couple met on X in 2023, when she described herself as a “conservative influencer.”
“He was responding to my posts frequently. One day, he responded to one of my Mother’s Day posts [and said] that I should have more children,” she claimed in the documentary, per People, about the start of their whirlwind romance.
Musk often suggested that St. Clair should have a child with him — he currently has 14 children — even though he has kids with other women, including Grimes and Shivon Zilis.
The then-couple had son Romulus in September 2024, and that’s when things took a turn for the worse in their relationship — having a child with the billionaire came with plenty of strings. Musk’s close aide, Jared Birchall, handed her a nondisclosure agreement that St. Clair said she did not sign in “good conscience.”
“The NDA that they had provided me was labeled as a child support agreement,” St. Clair continued. “It was a lump sum of $15 million and then $100,000 a month for 20 years.”
Her punishment for not signing the NDA cut her stipend from $100,000 to $40,000 per month, according to Gibney’s documentary. But then, St. Clair didn’t stay quiet about the birth of their son and revealed the news to the world in February 2025. After she spoke out, Musk retaliated by cutting her support again. St. Clair now receives $20,000 per month, as confirmed by The Wall Street Journal in April 2025.
“It was almost as if he didn’t show a certain side of himself until after I had our baby,” St. Clair said in the film.
As of October 2026, she and Musk are still locked in a custody battle over their son Romulus. She has also become one of the SpaceX founder’s most vocal opponents on social media. St. Clair won’t back down in revealing Musk’s secrets.
