LOGANSPORT, IND. — Foppers Gourmet Pet Treat Bakery acquired its third manufacturing facility in Logansport, expanding its footprint to 125,000 square feet across a 13-acre manufacturing campus. The acquisition of the facility is expected to close this December.

Foppers specializes in manufacturing baked treats, including crunchy, soft and chewy and semi-moist formats, for a variety of animal species, from cats and dogs to horses to small animals. The company uses both wire cut and rotary die systems to create its products and recently expanded its capabilities to include its first-ever baked cat treat line focused on high protein content.

With pet ownership continuing to rise and consumer demand for humanized treats skyrockets, Foppers has continued to expand. In 2022, the company added new equipment and processing lines to its facility in Logansport; in 2024, it expanded its co-manufacturing capabilities; and earlier this year it added a new wire cut dough forming line to its operation. After all these expansions, Foppers projected it would not need another expansion until 2030, but consumer demand has outpaced this, according to the company.

This third facility will allow Foppers to better serve its large-format customers, increase production capacity and increase overall production efficiency over the next few years. 

“Looking back, I would have never thought that the business we started in our basement in 2004 would be where it is today,” said Clark Leffert, vice president of Operations at Foppers. “We continue to grow and learn every day. We truly love what we do, and we’re excited for this next growth phase.”

Foppers is currently registered with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and has Safe Quality Food (SQF) certification, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) certification and Costco certification. The company is planning additional certifications in early 2027.
