Ressence Type 10 DN combines an oil-filled ROCS display, RW-04 automatic movement, 60-hour power reserve and a 41.5 mm titanium case. Here are the price and key details.

A watch with an oil-filled display, magnetic transmission and no side crown sounds like a concept from the future. The Ressence Type 10 brings those ideas together in a 41.5 mm titanium case weighing just 82 grams. Its deep-blue Type 10 DN version hides an elaborate mechanical system behind a remarkably clean face. Then comes the price: €60,000 before VAT.
The official Type 10 DN listing shows a price of €60,000 excluding VAT, with shipping calculated at checkout. As of 17 October 2026, the Ressence Type 10 collection page marks the model as sold out.
An official India price or confirmed India sale date is not provided on these pages. A direct euro-to-rupee conversion would also leave out taxes, duties and any local retail costs, so it should not be treated as an Indian selling price. Buyers will need to confirm availability and the final local price with Ressence or an authorised retailer.
Dark Night Design: Titanium, Rubber and 82 Grams
DN stands for Dark Night, the deep-blue colour shared by the case, dial and integrated rubber strap. The idea is to make the watch look like one flowing object. Smooth transitions between the parts give it a sculpted appearance, while the lack of a conventional side crown keeps the outline clean.
The case uses polished Grade 5 titanium with a hard-DLC coating. Ressence lists the weight at 82 grams, which is notable given the 538 components inside. The buckle is also Grade 5 titanium with the same type of coating.
Look closely at the fixed bezel and minute track. It is made from 24 individual titanium segments, combining small sandblasted, luminous inserts with larger brushed surfaces. The brushing direction changes by 30 degrees between segments, creating different reflections as the watch moves.
How the Oil-Filled Dial and ROCS 10 WorkROCS means Ressence Orbital Convex System. It replaces the familiar stack of hands above a fixed dial with curved discs that move together. The smaller displays rotate within the larger display, giving the face a constantly changing layout.
In the Type 10, the ROCS 10 module contains 196 components immersed in oil. The watch has two sealed chambers: the upper chamber contains the display and 2.95 ml of silicone-based oil, while the mechanical movement operates in air below it.
A magnetic transmission passes motion between the two chambers without a direct physical connection. An expansion membrane compensates for changes in oil volume. This arrangement allows the display to move in oil while keeping the movement in its own environment.
Ressence explains that the oil changes how light passes through the display. Because oil and glass bend light similarly, the markings appear closer to the surface of the sapphire crystal. The effect can resemble graphics sitting on the glass, even though the display is mechanical.
For another unusual approach to dial optics, the Citizen Eco-Drive PHOTON is worth a look. That watch uses light-powered quartz technology; the Ressence takes a very different mechanical route.
RW-04 Movement With a 60-Hour Power Reserve
Power comes from the in-house-designed RW-04 self-winding calibre, configured specifically for the Type 10. Ressence describes this as its first oil-filled watch powered by the RW-04.
The movement has 252 components and two barrels, the spring-storage units that provide its quoted 60-hour power reserve. That works out to two and a half days from a full wind under the stated specification. Its operating frequency is 28,800 vibrations per hour.
Automatic winding helps replenish the reserve while the watch is worn. Manual winding is also available through the caseback. The RW-04 and the ROCS 10 are separate assemblies, so the complete watch’s 538-component count includes more than those two modules alone.
Second Time Zone and Crown-Free ControlsThe Type 10 displays hours, minutes and a second time zone. It also includes a 120-second runner/shock absorber and a colour-based indication of the oil temperature. The second time zone is useful for keeping track of another city without changing the main time display.
The engraved indications use Grade A Super-LumiNova for visibility in low light. The oil-temperature display is part of the watch’s mechanical system and should not be confused with a body-temperature sensor.
Time setting and manual winding are handled at the caseback. A ring-shaped sapphire window allows a view of the movement, while Ressence’s Compression Lock System provides a stated 5 ATM water-resistance rating. The front and back use double-domed sapphire crystals with internal anti-reflective coating.
Readers interested in unconventional time displays can also explore ArtyA’s tourbillon with no central hands. Its peripheral display follows a different mechanism, but shares the willingness to rethink a familiar watch face.

The appeal is the way a complicated mechanism produces a visually simple watch. The moving discs, oil-filled display, magnetic coupling and crown-free case all contribute to that idea. It gives collectors several engineering details to explore without covering the front in exposed gears.
For a contrasting take on visible mechanical construction, the Bell & Ross BR-X3 Micro-Rotor puts more of its machinery on show. The Type 10 concentrates attention on the movement of its display instead.
At €60,000 excluding VAT, this is a specialist collector purchase. The design is the main attraction, while long-term ownership also calls for clear answers on servicing, availability and local support. Its distinctive display and light titanium construction make the Ressence Type 10 DN an interesting piece of watch engineering; comfort and everyday readability still need an in-person assessment.
