A woman in Missouri was charged with first-degree assault after she fired a gunshot at her neighbor amidst a property-line dispute.
Paula Kohensky, 60, and her unidentified neighbor were allegedly arguing about their shared fence in St Charles County, a northwestern suburb outside of St Louis, when the incident occurred.
St Charles County Patrol Officers received a report of gunshots around 8pm on October 11.
Earlier that evening, the victim was installing metal 'T-posts' in his yard, and accidentally placed one incorrectly. To remedy his mistake, he started cutting the fence post with an electric side grinder, St Charles County court records showed.
The victim claimed in an interview with law enforcement that while he was kneeling on the ground while operating the side grinder, he heard yelling and then a voice counting '3, 2, 1,' followed by a gunshot.
Video surveillance footage seen by police showed the suspect pointing the gun at a lower angle.
Kohensky admitted to carrying a gun out of her house, but alleged that the gunshot was accidental, according to court records.
The victim and the suspect gave conflicting accounts of the incident in their subsequent police interviews, court filings show.

The woman told law enforcement she heard a 'loud metal sound' near the fence and saw sparks come from underneath a tarp near the fence, which startled her, court records showed.
Kohensky allegedly yelled 'Get away from my fence,' when she saw the victim's shadow. She admitted that she was armed with a handgun at the time, according to court filings.
Law enforcement found empty handgun ammunition casings next to where Kohensky was standing, court documents revealed.
Kohensky mentioned in her interview that the neighbor has a 'history of harassment and stalking issues [toward her] which had been ongoing for several months.'
A judge ordered Kohensky to have no contact with the victim, no weapons, and stay at least 500ft from the victim.
The court filings did not specify whether the victim sustained injuries from the gunshot.
The woman's bail has been posted at $500,000.
