The 22-year-old man accused of shooting his own mother to death in an argument over the number of foster cats living in their Massachusetts home sent a chilling text to his cousin after the alleged murder.

Andria Hanafin, 49, was found dead in her house in Reading, about 14 miles north of Boston, in the early hours of October 8.

After firing a bullet into her head, the suspect sent jarring text messages via Snapchat to his cousin, saying he 'blew madre to pieces' and another message that he 'blew her s*** smooth off' before fleeing in his car, investigators said.

Prosecutors said that Andria and her son were often fighting because the 22-year-old disliked the number of foster cats his mother was taking care of, CBS News reported.

After the shooting, investigators found a staggering 84 cats inside the home, which they brought to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the outlet reported.

Andria had reportedly told a friend in the past that she was scared of her son, that she feared retaliation from him and that 'he had ruined her life,' CBS News reported.

Ryan's father, Matthew, found his wife fatally shot, lying in a pool of blood when he returned to their home after a 12-hour shift shortly after midnight, officials said.

Andria was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan.

Matthew later revealed that he had told his son to 'get a job and do something' with his life on the morning before the murder. Andria reportedly called her husband on the same evening, stressing that she wanted their son to move out.

Authorities said Ryan had been most recently employed six months ago at a gun shop and had previously attended a local university, the Boston Globe reported.

The family has three children, and the youngest, a 13-year-old child, was at home when the 911 call was made, Ryan said. Another child, a daughter, was away at college at the time of the shooting.

Ryan fled the home after the shooting, sending cops on an extensive manhunt to locate the 22-year-old.

Authorities located the suspect who had fled to Vermont in his 2010 black Dodge Charger and returned him to Reading. Officials found thousands of rounds of ammunition inside his car.

Ryan was charged with first-degree murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

A house search discovered 19 firearms, including a ghost gun and a 3D printer in his room.

The 22-year-old is held without bail for the murder charge and a $5,000 bail for an untraceable firearm charge.

At his first appearance in Woburn District Court, Ryan pleaded not guilty to all charges. He is due back in court on November 10. His attorney, Carolyn McGowan, did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Mail on Saturday.
