Bar Harry opens in Toluca Lake

Bar Harry, a new cocktail bar and restaurant inspired in part by Debbie Harry and the downtown New York music scene, has opened in Toluca Lake.

The concept was created by Los Angeles hospitality veteran Richard DiSisto, whose previous projects include Tipple & Brine, Tunnel Bar and Murph’s Service Station. The property includes two distinct spaces: the indoor Bar Harry and an outdoor area called Camp Funtime.

Bar director Johnathan Fite, formerly of Employees Only Los Angeles, oversees the cocktail program. Drinks include the Bunny 68, made with vodka, champagne syrup, soda water, acid solution and passion fruit foam; the Chelsea Hotel, with Aperol, rosé, Lillet, grapefruit liqueur and gin; and the Funtime Old Fashioned, made with bourbon, demerara and chocolate bitters and finished with charred marshmallow and graham cracker.

Executive chef David Lopez, whose previous experience includes Alba, American Beauty, Mastro’s Steakhouse Beverly Hills and Chi Spacca, leads the food program.

Menu offerings include fried squid with kimchi aioli, Wagyu sliders, heritage chicken wings, chicken Parmesan, steak frites and a crispy halibut sandwich. Side dishes include beef tallow fries, corn ribs and tater tots.

Camp Funtime, located behind the main bar, takes its name from a vintage summer-camp shirt worn by Harry in a photograph from the late 1970s. The outdoor space includes an Airstream bar, picnic tables, fire pits, vintage signage and a DJ booth made from a boat suspended from an upstairs balcony.

Bar Harry is located at 10111 Riverside Drive, and open daily beginning at 5 p.m. Hours vary by day, with closing times ranging from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m.
