Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical Society President Eugene Ryan, MD, and Medical Foundation of Chattanooga President J. Eugene Huffstutter, MD, announced that Ruston Pierce has been named to succeed retiring CEO Rae Young Bond. Mr. Pierce will begin a transition process in mid-October in preparation for Ms. Bond’s December retirement.
“Mr. Pierce is a mission-driven executive leader with more than two decades of experience leading nonprofit organizations and educational institutions, as well as consulting engagements for nonprofit and for-profit companies.
His experience guiding legislative efforts at both state and federal levels was an important factor for the Medical Society,” said Dr. Ryan.
“His extensive background in fund development and program management will be beneficial to the Medical Foundation,” added Dr. Huffstutter.
Mr. Pierce served as President of Affinity Recruiting, Consulting, and Benefits Solutions and led its acquisition earlier this year. In this capacity, he provided executive consulting services to organizations throughout the US. Earlier in his career, Mr. Pierce served in private schools, including as Head of School and Director of Advancement. He was also director of special programs at Bryan College.
He holds a Master of Educational Leadership degree from Trevecca Nazarene University, a BA in English Literature from King University, and is a graduate of the McCallie School. He lives in Ooltewah with his wife and children.
Mr. Pierce was selected by a six-member Search Committee in an extensive process that included reviewing 70 applications and four rounds of interviews. The Search Committee included Drs. Ryan and Huffstutter, Dr. Phyllis Miller, Dr. Harish Manyam, Dr. Richard Moody, and Dr. Jason Susong.
Ms. Bond is retiring after serving the Medical Society and Foundation for a total of 26 years where she led the development of Southeast Tennessee Project Access, LifeBridge Physician Well Being Initiative, and Future Docs/Youth Leadership Program.
