Zendaya is returning to the world of science fiction, with the ‘Dune’ star signing on to a new untitled sci-fi film written and directed by Alex Garland for A24.
Plot details are being kept firmly under wraps, but the project is scheduled to begin filming in 2027. The collaboration brings together one of Hollywood’s biggest stars and the acclaimed filmmaker behind ‘Ex Machina,’ ‘Annihilation’ and ‘Civil War’ for a project that is already generating intrigue.
The film marks another collaboration between Zendaya and A24, following their work together on the hit drama series Euphoria, which concluded its run after three seasons earlier this year. The actress also recently starred opposite Robert Pattinson in the dark comedy ‘The Drama,’ which proved a box office success, earning almost $135 million worldwide.

For Garland, the project continues his longstanding relationship with A24. The filmmaker has worked with the studio on several notable features, including the 2024 science-fiction thriller ‘Civil War,’ as well as ‘Men,’ ‘Warfare’ and his acclaimed directorial debut, ‘Ex Machina.’
Zendaya’s return to sci-fi comes after her work in Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune’ franchise, where she stars as Chani opposite Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides.
The untitled film is expected to shoot in 2027. Further casting and plot details have yet to be announced.
