The Hindi-dubbed version of Jailer 2 has exceeded expectations at the Indian box office. Given the 4-week OTT window, the film didn’t release in national cinema chains (PVR Inox, Cinepolis, and others) in North India, and now it seems the decision has backfired. Despite no promotions, the film has performed much better than expected during its 4-day extended opening weekend, indicating genuine audience interest. In the meantime, it scored Kollywood’s 4th biggest opening weekend in Hindi.

The Tamil crime thriller registered a decent-to-good start of 3.5 crore and thereafter maintained momentum throughout the weekend. After the first two days, more shows were added due to audience demand, which helped it fetch encouraging numbers. Yesterday, on the first Sunday, it earned 5.75 crore, up 27.78% from day 3’s 4.5 crore, marking the biggest day of its run so far.

Overall, Jailer 2 (Hindi) has amassed 16.65 crore net at the Indian box office, which equals 19.65 crore gross. Considering there has been no release in national cinema chains, the number is good, and it is on track to become the biggest Kollywood hit in the post-COVID era.
