Clark County fire crews conducted a water rescue Monday night to save a man who was in fast-moving water in the east Las Vegas Valley, officials said.

Clark County said in an email Tuesday that at about 10:04 p.m., crews received reports that an individual had fallen over a bridge into a drainage tunnel near Twain and Eastern avenues.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed a man standing in fast-moving water. Crews attempted to deploy rope bags but were unsuccessful because of the distance and speed of the water between them and the man, officials said.

The department’s technical rescue team responded and established a high-point rope system to lower a technician and secure the man.

“Crews were able to raise him and the responder without further incident,” the email said. “The patient was assessed on scene and released.”

Henderson fire crews also conducted a water rescue on Monday afternoon.

The Henderson Fire Department’s technical rescue team removed one person from a stalled vehicle in the area of Moonwalk Terrace and East Paradise Hills Drive, near Interstate 11. The vehicle was in two feet of standing water. No injuries were reported.
