Samsung is bringing GPS route guidance, climb tracking, and hydration alerts to the Cordillera Mountain Ultra (CMU) through its Galaxy Watch Ultra2, as the event’s Official Watch Partner.

The annual trail-running event in Benguet takes runners across challenging mountain terrain. Through the Trail with Galaxy partnership, Samsung will introduce watch features designed to help runners follow routes, check their pace, and monitor their effort during climbs.

“Our goal is to bring more people outdoors. For the last two decades, that has been our advocacy and main driver of our work,” said JP Alipio, Organizer, Cordillera Mountain Ultra. “This partnership with Samsung and the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 allows us to broaden this advocacy while utilizing the best possible technology for exploring and adventuring in the outdoors.”

The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 combines dual-frequency GPS with Trail Run Mode and GPX route guidance. These tools help runners follow a planned route while tracking elevation, climbing progress, and pace. GPX files contain route information that runners can use as a guide.

For longer runs, the watch offers Nutrition Alert, which provides hydration guidance based on estimated sweat loss. The estimate gives runners another way to monitor their needs as their effort and trail conditions change.

The watch has a titanium body, IP69K and 10ATM ratings, a screen that reaches up to 5,000 nits of brightness, and an 800mAh battery.

“Technology is most meaningful when people can see how it supports the moments and pursuits that matter to them,” said Jun Guevara, director, head of Corporate Marketing, Samsung Electronics Philippines. “That is why we are bringing the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 into the trail-running community, where runners can put its capabilities to the test as they prepare, move, explore, and recover.”

The partnership also includes community sessions and trail experiences beyond race day. Participants can learn from experienced runners, meet other trail enthusiasts, and try Galaxy technology outdoors.

The activities aim to help beginners become more comfortable on trails while giving experienced runners opportunities to explore more demanding routes. CMU offers distances for runners with different experience levels.

Registration for Cordillera Mountain Ultra is open until Nov. 30, 2026. Interested runners can check the CMU registration site for race details.
