The company has appointed two new senior leaders in Ireland.

US business, technology and financial information provider Bloomberg is expanding its software engineering and data operations in Ireland amid plans to double its current headcount here by the end of the decade.

Bloomberg’s Dublin location, which currently houses 190 as its largest EU office, has made two new senior appointments to “lead the next phase of the company’s growth” in Ireland.

Amanda Brady will serve as Bloomberg’s new director for Ireland following previous global leadership roles across a range of financial services companies in the US, Australia and the UK. Richard Norton, an internal selection, will be the company’s head of engineering for Ireland.

“I greatly welcome today’s announcement by Bloomberg to expand their Irish operations, evidence of the strong economic offering Ireland has in technology, data and STEM, and the thriving business community that we cultivate in these sectors,” said Taoiseach Micheál Martin, TD.

Both Brady and Norton will serve as global leaders of the company’s enterprise data delivery platform, ‘DL+’, which Bloomberg said is reliant on its Dublin teams that work across engineering, product development and data capabilities.

“Our teams here are building critical products that financial professionals around the world rely on every day. We’re seeing an increasing demand for the services and the innovative solutions we provide,” said Brady.

Bloomberg said it has already doubled its Dublin headcount over the past 12 months, having moved to a new “purpose-built hub” location last November.

“The engineering and technology talent in Ireland is exceptional, and the work being done here sits at the core of Bloomberg’s data and technology offering,” said Norton.

“We are investing significantly in teams here because the problems we are solving in Dublin make a material difference to our clients globally.”

IDA Ireland is to support the planned expansion. Its CEO Michael Lohan added: “Bloomberg’s decision to further expand its Irish operations is a strong endorsement of Ireland’s position as a leading location for global technology, data and financial services companies.

“This investment will strengthen Bloomberg’s engineering, product development and enterprise data capabilities from Dublin, creating highly skilled roles and building on Ireland’s deep pool of STEM and technology talent.”
