A key new feature in macOS 27 is Safari’s Notify Me function. This has the Apple Intelligence automatically monitor a web page for updates and send a notification when it occurs.

This feature can be useful in a wide variety of ways, with price drops being one of the most obvious. Unfortunately, a limitation means that it doesn’t yet support what I would consider the most important use case for Notify Me …

Given that computers were supposed to automate boring tasks so that humans didn’t have to do them, it’s somewhat disappointing just how frequently we find ourselves doing tedious and repetitive tasks that somehow can’t yet be easily automated. AI is changing this, and Apple’s Notify Me feature in Safari is a good example.

For example, if I’m waiting for a product to come back into stock in order to place an order, or delaying my purchase until the price drops to a more reasonable level, Safari can now monitor a web page and let me know when it’s time to buy.

But the single most tedious manual refreshing of websites I do on a regular basis is waiting for tickets to go on sale. There are some events that sell out within minutes of ticket sales opening, and as they frequently don’t happen exactly at the promised time, I often find myself visiting a website a few minutes before sales are supposed to begin and then repeatedly refreshing the page.

In some cases, the sales window can open 20 or 30 minutes later than promised, so this process can grow extremely time-consuming and tedious. This is a perfect use case for the Notify Me feature.

Unfortunately, it can’t be used for this because the highest frequency check I can set is hourly. By the time Safari notifies me, there’s a high chance that all tickets would be sold out, or at least the ones for the seats that I really wanted.

I’d like one simple change: the ability to set the check frequency to every minute or even every 15 seconds.

I appreciate that people doing this for an extended period could effectively amount to a denial of service attack on a website, so Apple would have to impose limits on its use. A simple one would be to allow high-frequency checks to run for a maximum period of 30 minutes. Given that we wouldn’t typically need to check the same website very often, the company could even have a reset time of a month before we can use the feature again on the same website.

Is there something you’d like to see? Please take our poll and share your thoughts in the comments.
