The Washington Commanders and New York Giants played the first tie of the NFL season.
Quarterback Jayden Daniels has accepted responsibility for the Washington Commanders blunder at the end of overtime.
With the score at 27-27 and the seconds ticking down, the Commanders just needed to spike the ball for a field goal and win the game. Daniels held onto the ball too long and the clock ran out.
Daniels, making his return after an injury, told a press conference after the game that he should have handled the situation better.
He said: “We’ve gotta relay that as an offense. It starts with everyone, top down. Ultimately it’s on me.”
Daniels passed for 199 yards and rushed for two touchdowns. The tie meant that the Giants stay at the top of the NFC East, with a 3-1-1 record.

While Jayden Daniels has accepted responsibility, head coach Dan Quinn‘s job is under pressure.
Quinn told a press conference that the offense could have navigated the game better, deflecting blame from Daniels, “I don’t have to put him into that spot.”

Commanders investor Magic Johnson expressed his disbelief on social media, posting: “I’m in total disbelief my Commanders had such poor clock management in today’s overtime game against the Giants.
“All we had to do was kick the field goal and we would have won the game!”
The Commanders are 1-3-1 for the season, their only victory being a surprise victory over the reigning champions Seattle Seahawks.
