What are your top three priorities?
We need more housing and we have to make it more efficient and economical to build and buy it. We need electricity that is affordable, is generated with the least amount of impact on our natural resources and is delivered in a manner that is transparent and understandable. We need to strike the balance at the municipal level of providing good schools for our children, necessary services for our community and ensuring that the costs of those services are reasonable and fair.
Why are you running?
First, I love Maine, and have since I first crossed the Piscataqua River Bridge in 1982. Second, now is not the time to be on the sidelines criticizing those working in Augusta. I want to be part of addressing the challenges facing Maine today. I have experience with the Legislature, experience to know progress is made when people are willing to work together even if they don’t agree on every issue, when results are more important than posturing and when the work is done with humility.
Lauren Jones, Republican
What are your top three priorities?
1. Make Maine more affordable by lowering taxes and unnecessary regulatory costs. 2. Protect parental rights, individual liberty and local control. 3. Expand housing and economic opportunity by removing barriers that make it harder to build, work, start a business and raise a family in Maine.
Why are you running?
I’m running because I don’t want Maine to become a place our children have to leave in order to afford a home, build a career or raise a family. As a mom and real estate broker, I see firsthand how taxes, housing costs and overregulation are squeezing Maine families. I want a government that spends less, listens more, respects parents and protects the individual freedoms that make Maine worth calling home.
