The Los Angeles Fire Department has issued a Red Flag Alert with special parking restrictions beginning at 6 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15, and lasting for at least 48 hours through 6 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17.

The LAFD stressed the importance of fire department vehicles having room to respond quickly to a fast-moving brush fire while simultaneously allowing residents to evacuate if a fire erupts. Special parking restrictions will be in place on narrow streets in brush areas during Red Flag Alert conditions. Vehicles illegally parked in posted locations within the Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones will be towed.

The LAFD is pre-deploying additional resources across the San Fernando Valley, Santa Monica Mountains, Hollywood Hills and West Los Angeles. The pre-deployment includes CalOES Type III wildland fire engines, additional air operations personnel, brush patrols, bulldozer strike teams, water tenders, fire communications personnel and wildfire camera monitoring authorities.
