Bengaluru is expected to need around 1.4 million AI professionals by 2026, with only 400,000 available currently. This talent gap poses challenges for enterprises and Global Capability Centres as AI adoption grows. Shortages in specialized technology roles have led to salary increases between 30 and 35 percent. Organizations are urged to continuously reskill employees to meet future industry demands.
Bengaluru, India may require around 1.4 million artificial intelligence professionals in 2026 against an available talent pool of approximately 400,000, creating a demand-supply gap of more than 3.5 times, according to the inaugural BinQle Talent Intelligence Report 2026.
The widening talent gap could pose a significant growth challenge for enterprises and Global Capability Centres (GCCs) as AI adoption accelerates across business functions, the report said.
"India's AI opportunity will depend on how quickly organisations can identify, develop and deploy the right skills," said Sushant Acharya, Co-Founder and Chief Business Officer of Bengaluru-headquartered BinQle.
The report said the shortage of job-ready professionals across AI and machine learning, cloud architecture, cybersecurity, data engineering, DevOps and full-stack development had pushed salaries in specialised technology roles up by 30 to 35 per cent. Fewer than half of candidates currently meet industry expectations for workplace readiness, it added.
AI is reshaping existing roles rather than simply replacing them, making AI fluency, data literacy, adaptability and cross-functional communication increasingly important. With 39 per cent of current skill sets expected to become outdated by 2030, the report called for continuous reskilling.
It recommended that organisations map skill gaps 12 to 18 months ahead of business requirements, link reskilling to measurable outcomes, build specialist and local talent pipelines, strengthen employer branding around AI adoption and expand flexible workforce strategies.
