Even though Cyberpunk 2077 has been with us for a good few years now, CD Projekt RED is still not quite finished tinkering with Night City! While the studio officially confirmed that Update 2.5 is on the way to celebrate the Netflix premiere of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, the full scope of the patch appears to have leaked ahead of schedule. And a video from WesNemo accidentally published a breakdown early after receiving advance access from the developers. Although the video was quickly switched to private, eagle-eyed users on the reddit managed to document the entire list of upcoming features before it vanished.

The biggest revelation from the leaked details is that console players are finally getting access to community modifications. Through direct integration with mod.io inside the game menus, players on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox Series X/S will be able to browse and install curated community mods, alongside PC and Mac users. Modified save files will even receive their own distinct labels in the Load Game menu, and CD Projekt RED reportedly plans to expand the library of supported files over time. The Nintendo Switch 2 version is absent from the initial list of mod-supported platforms, and it remains unclear if support will be added to Nintendo’s hybrid console at a later date.

Alongside modding, console players are set to receive a long-awaited field-of-view (FOV) slider, bringing the console ports much closer to the PC experience. PC hardware enthusiasts have plenty to look forward to as well. The leak points to upgraded visuals including NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 with up to 6x Multi Frame Generation, Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, and NVIDIA’s second-generation Transformer model. Additional technical updates reportedly include ray-tracing optimisations, AMD FSR adjustments, MetalFX improvements on Mac, PS5 Pro performance tuning, and glasses-free 3D support for compatible Samsung Odyssey 3D monitors.

So far, CD Projekt RED has officially confirmed two headline features for the patch: dual-wielding combat and expanded cyberware customisation. Based on the leaked breakdown, dual-wielding is unlocked via a new “Double Trouble” perk located in the Cool attribute tree, supported by four supplementary perks. Rather than giving players unrestricted access to every weapon class at once, the mechanic is reportedly restricted to Power-category pistols and revolvers, meaning Smart and Tech weapons are excluded from dual-wielding builds.

For players who want their merc to look the part, five new “Glamdoc” clinics are opening across Night City, marked by spray-paint icons on the map. Each shop features a bespoke vendor with voiced introductions and unique animations, allowing V to alter the colours and visual styling of arm cyberware including Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire, and the Projectile Launch System. Five new clothing collections, returning NPC hairstyles for both male and female V, Photo Mode poses for dual-wielding, and four Twin Tone skins for the Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech via Twitch Drops are also said to be included.

Beyond combat and cosmetics, Update 2.5 reportedly introduces fresh story content tied to the wider universe. A new gig titled “Clampdown” serves as a playable prequel to the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 anime series. It unlocks after completing The Heist and two gigs for Wakako Okada, rewarding players with a five-piece outfit inspired by former edgerunner Weak Kingsley (voiced by Clancy Brown in the show).

A second side quest called “Welcome to Paradise” unlocks after completing The Heist and reaching Street Cred level 15, sending players on a mystery tour of the streets narrated by the city’s long-dead founder, Richard Night. In addition, the “Fool on the Hill” questline is reportedly expanding with 12 new Minor Arcana tarot cards hidden around the map, accompanied by a new HKGN 102 FM radio station broadcasting tracks from the Edgerunners soundtrack.

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 will roll out as a free update for all existing owners on 22 October 2026 across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, with the Nintendo Switch 2 patch arriving at a later date. The base game and its Phantom Liberty expansion are available to purchase now via Steam, GOG, the Epic Games Store, the PlayStation Store, the Xbox Store, and the Nintendo eShop.
