An Amazon customer bought a Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 processor, and when he received it, he noticed something very strange. It was the second processor of this model that he had bought. The first one arrived in good condition, but the second was not what it seemed.

From the front, it looked like a Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, but when he turned it around, he saw that it was actually an Intel processor made to look like an AMD processor.

At first the customer thought it might be an AMD revision, something that’s a little crazy to think because that would make the processor totally physically incompatible with the AM5 socket, and it would need a new socket to work, but then he realized what was going on: it wasn’t a Ryzen 9 9950X3D2.

The processor is really an Intel model that has had the IHS of a Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 placed on it to pull off the trick and deceive those who only look at the front, and who, when seeing the back, are not able to differentiate it.

It seems that what has happened in this case is that someone bought the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, performed a “delid” to keep the part where the chiplets go, mounted the IHS on an Intel processor and returned it. No one at Amazon should have noticed, and it was sold again as if nothing had happened.

This has become a big problem that has long affected the tech market, where scams are becoming more and more common.
