New Job Type to Clear Property Values on State Change

Дата публикации: 22-10-2026 13:13:35

Would be good to have a new standard Autodesk Job Type that can clear the values of configurable Vault properties as part of a lifecycle state change.A common requirement is to reset specific property values when a file transitions to next Revision. For example, information that was assigned during a previous life cycle phase may no longer be valid when starting a new Release and files turns to editable state.Instead of requiring a Custom Job for this functionality, Vault should provide a standard configurable Clear Properties Job. This functionality should be usable as part of the new JobChain configuration. Configuration via Job ParametersThe Job Type should receive its configuration through Job Parameters, so that the same Job Type can be reused for different lifecycle transitions and properties.Suggested Job Parameters:ClearPropertyNames (Name of the Vault properties whose value should be cleared.)Support for multiple PropertyName parameters or a list of properties would allow several properties to be cleared by the same job.The values of configured properties would be cleared when the job is executed. Integration with JobChainA prerequisite for this functionality would be the ability to hand over Job Parameters to individual jobs within the new JobChain configuration.  Client-Side ExecutionIt would also be useful if the Clear Properties could optionally be executed directly on the Vault Client as part of the state change operation, instead of always being processed asynchronously by the Job Processor. This would ensure that the configured properties are cleared before the user continues working with or checks out the files before the Job is processed.Based on our experience, executing these actions directly on the client when transitioning to an editable state can provide a better user experience than processing them asynchronously through the Job Processor. When the Job Queue is under high load, users may otherwise have to wait until their jobs are processed before they can safely continue working with the files. Related Idea: "Enhance Job Chain Configuration with Job Parameters and Advanced Conditions"Related Idea: "Provide Autodesk Job Type to Write State Change Timestamp and User to Properties" Releated Idea "Synchronize Properties on the Client After a Lifecycle State Change"
