VfB Stuttgart are taking on their second Englischewoche of the season this week, as they travel to face Slovakian champions Slovan Bratislava.

Sebastian Hoeneß's side got back to winning ways on Saturday, beating Paderborn 2-0 at the Home Deluxe Arena.

This followed successive league defeats, with Stuttgart struggling against both Hoffenheim and Borussia Dortmund before the break, but the afternoon in Paderborn was not without its struggles, with the hosts coming up with 1.96 expected goals from 24 shots.

Now, Die Schwaben travel to Bratislava aiming to repeat their 2024/25 exploits, when they won 3-1 at Tehelne pole.

Now coached by Manchester City legend Yaya Touré, the Slovak side sit fourth in their division, after drawing 1-1 with Skalica at the weekend.

Last time out in the Champions League, they fell to a 6-1 defeat away at Paris Saint-Germain, while Stuttgart beat Norwegian side Viking 3-1.

Team news and predicted lineups

Bratislava boss Toure can name a full squad as his side look to cause an upset, but the same isn't true for Hoeneß.

Maximilian Mittelstädt suffered a heel injury against Paderborn on Saturday, and will be out for the time being, joining a list of players on the sidelines.

Nikolas Nartey remains a doubt, while Justin Diehl, Dan-Axel Zagadou, Luca Jaquez and Tiago Tomas are all set to return later this month.
