For the first time since it opened 32 years ago, Disney World's iconic Tower of Terror ride may be undergoing some serious changes, and fans are frantic about it.
Rumors erupted this week that the iconic attraction may be getting a major update after the actor who voiced the original narration on the ride teased a potential revamp.
Mark Silverman, who plays Rod Serling in the attraction, took to Instagram this week to share a picture of himself outside of the Walt Disney Imagineering studio – the place responsible for the creation, design and construction of Disney's theme parks and attractions worldwide.
'Walt Disney Imagineering, one of my favorite places to be. It all started for me there in 1993, auditioning to narrate a brand new attraction for Walt Disney World called The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror,' he wrote in the caption.
When a fan asked in the comment section if his post meant fans would be getting 'something new from him at Disney,' the actor, 67, cryptically replied: 'Well... could be.'
Immediately, many avid Disney fans took this as a clue that Disney may be planning to transform the Tower of Terror, which is arguably one of the Orlando, Florida-based theme park's most popular and well known attraction.
'There's no confirmation yet of what Silverman's visit involved. A return to WDI could point to several things - a refurbishment update, new content for an existing Tower of Terror attraction or something entirely new,' popular Disney blog WDW Magic reported.
The Tower of Terror has been at Hollywood Studios in Disney World since 1994, and it is one of the few rides that has remained mostly unchanged since it first launched.

Silverman portrayed Serling, the original creator and host of The Twilight Zone, who passed away years prior, during the pre-ride video played for all guests; his voice is also heard throughout the ride.
The ride allows guests to enter the infamous Hollywood Tower Hotel that's been 'frozen in time.'
'Suddenly a television set springs to life and Rod Serling welcomes you on a journey into the Twilight Zone,' reads the official description.
'He reveals that on a gloomy Halloween night in 1939, some hotel patrons were riding the elevator when a violent storm struck the building… and they were never seen again. The hotel closed down and has stood empty ever since.
'Enter the rickety, elevator-style lift, strap yourself in and prepare to discover what lies beyond the darkest corner of your imagination.
'Shriek in terror as you’re suddenly propelled up and down the abandoned shaft - unexpectedly dropping and rising -as you hear the sound of cables snapping and metal clanging overhead.'
In addition to Silverman's post, Disney fans pointed out that the theme park quietly started construction on the outside of the attraction months ago.
Disney has not addressed the exterior refurbishment, but scaffolding can be seen around portions of the structure surrounding the ride.

Amidst the news, fans have rushed to X to share their theories, with many speculating that big changes may be coming to the ride.
But it divided guests, with some sharing their excitement and others admitting they would prefer it stay the way it is.
'I think we have enough clues now to deduce that something is indeed happening to Tower of Terror,' one fan wrote.
'Let’s hope not. I don't know why Disney feels they need to mess with everything that’s already good,' replied another.
'On the upside, they're not removing the Twilight Zone theme. On the downside, there's still plenty of ways they can screw this up rather than just fixing what's already there. But hoping for the best...' someone else penned.

'They're messing with what they shouldn't,' read a fourth post.
A fifth said: 'This could be a promising [plus] to WDW's iconic attraction.'
'Disney, please stop messing with already perfect attractions,' begged a different user.
Over at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, the ride was transformed into a Guardians of the Galaxy-themed attraction back in 2017.
Entitled Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout!, guests can 'join Rocket on a thrilling mission to rescue the Guardians of the Galaxy from the Collector’s fortress.'
