The Hamilton County Register of Deeds Office is encouraging property owners to take a simple, proactive step to stay informed about activity related to their property through its free Property Fraud Alert System.

The Property Fraud Alert System instantly notifies property owners by email if a document matching their name or property address is recorded with the Hamilton County Register of Deeds. Once a property owner receives an alert, the notification includes contact information for the Register of Deeds office and instructs recipients to contact the office immediately to verify the activity and determine next steps.

The service does not prevent documents from being filed or place a “lock” on a property title.

Instead, it provides property owners with timely awareness so they can respond quickly if needed.

“Knowing quickly when something is recorded allows property owners to take action if needed,” said Marc Gravitt, Hamilton County Register of Deeds. “It’s a simple and effective way to stay informed.”

Unlike third-party services, Hamilton County’s Property Fraud Alert System is directly connected to the official recording office, providing accurate, real-time information that property owners can trust.
