Temperatures could reach the mid-90s on Monday, after the National Weather Service issued a heat advisory warning people to stay safe in the sun.

The high in Boulder on Monday is 96 degrees, according to AccuWeather. NWS warned of heat-caused illnesses, and Boulder County Public Health offered tips for how to stay cool and healthy during the heat advisory that will last until 9 p.m.

Here are some ways to stay safe out there, according to BCPH:

• Stay in air-conditioned buildings whenever possible.

• Avoid using ovens or other heat-generating appliances.

• Take cool showers or baths to lower your body temperature.

• Drink plenty of water, and don’t wait to get thirsty.

• Avoid drinking lots of alcohol, caffeine or sugary drinks.

• Limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.

• Wear sunscreen rated SPF 30 or higher.

Temperatures are expected to remain high in Boulder this week, according to AccuWeather. The high is forecast to be 93 degrees on Tuesday, 93 on Wednesday and 93 on Thursday.

Boulder shouldn’t expect to see temperatures back down in the 80s until next week.
