Спутник навигационных систем. C/NOFS. [Редактировать]

МКА создан в рамках совместного проекта директората космических аппаратов Исследовательской лаборатории ВВС США AFRL (Air Force Research Laboratory) и Программы космических испытаний STP (Space Test Program). Данный аппарат является военно-исследовательским (создание системы оперативного прогноза нарушений в работе космических связных и навигационных систем вследствие возмущений в ионосфере).
Система управления и обработки данных построена на процессоре RAD6000. Научная аппаратура подключена через дублирован-ную шину данных стандарта 1553В. Для хранения информации вне зон связи используется твердотельное запоминающее устройство емкостью 4 Гбит
Система электропитания включает смонтированные на корпусе МКА солнечные батареи с высокоэффективными фотоэлементами на арсениде галлия мощностью в начале полета 329 Вт, никель-водородную аккумуляторную батарею емкостью 16 А ч, блок управления питанием и кабельную сеть. Потребляемая мощность – 197 Вт на служебные системы и 70 Вт на полезную нагрузку
Трехосная система ориентации и стабилизации. Датчики системы ориентации и стабилизации – трехкомпонентный магнитометр, два инерциальных измерительных блока и два звездных датчика для предотвращения засветки аппаратуры Солнцем. Исполнительные органы – два маховика и магнитные устройства разгрузки. Точность построения ориентации МКА – 1,3°, измерения текущей ориентации – 2,4'
Терморегулирование обеспечивается шестью тепловыми трубами, ведущими к радиатору на надирной части МКА, и нагревателями
Комплекс научной аппаратуры состоит из шести приборов для измерений плазмы и по-лей, нейтральных составляющих атмосферы, суммарной электронной концентрации и собственно сцинтилляций сигналов в ионосфере и включает:

  • пленарный зонд Лэнгмюра PLP (Planar Langmuir Probe) для определения плотности плазмы и ее флуктуации, созданный в Директорате космических аппаратов AFRL;
  • измеритель вектора электрического поля VEFI (Vector Electric Field Instrument) для определения постоянных и переменных компонентов электрического поля и вектора магнитного поля, поставленный Центром космических полетов имени Годдарда NASA;
  • измеритель скорости ионов IVM (Ion Velocity Meter) в пределах до 1000 м/с, постоянных электрических полей и ионной температуры;
  • измеритель скорости нейтральных частиц NWM (Neutral Wind Meter) в пределах до 500 м/с в зональном, меридиональном и вертикальном направлениях и их состава;
  • приемник CORISS (C/NOFS Occupation Receiver for Ionospheric Sensing and Specifica-tion) для измерения навигационных сигналов системы GPS в режиме просвечивания атмосферы и определения вертикального профиля электронной плотности, подготовленный специалистами компании Aerospace Corp.;
  • радиомаяк CERTO (Coherent Electromagnetic Radio Tomography) для томографии ионосферы и определения параметров сцинтилляций на нескольких частотах по показаниям наземных станций, разработанный учеными Военно-морской исследовательской лаборатории США (NRL).
