Спутник ФКИ. ExoCube. [Редактировать]

ExoCube (CP 10) это космический аппарат профинансированный Национальным научным фондом  Его задачами является измерение плотности  водорода, кислорода, гелия и др. газов в верхних слоях атмосферы. Текущие модели поведения верхних слоев атмосферы базируются на основании измерений посредством земных станций. Поэтому аппарат измерять параметры над Земными радарами.

EXOcube is aiming to address these questions with far reaching implications for the interpretation of the results of past and upcoming planetary exploration missions. EXOcube represents a new generation of space exposure platforms based on cubesat mini-space laboratories equipped with in-situ analytical instrumentation. EXOcube will combine the capability of in-situ online monitoring of organism responses to the spaceflight environment in real time, coupled with detailed postflight sample analyses on the ground (see Figure 1). The immediate goals are to investigate (i) the response of life at different stages of complexity to space conditions and (ii) the role of membranes and membrane components as the interface between life and the physical environment. Implementation: We plan to expose organisms, with different structural complexity from protocells to eukaryotic cells, to radiation levels in low Earth orbit and microgravity and to measure in-situ their biological response via reporter dyes. This, together with further sophisticated ground based post-flight analysis will allow us to study in detail the bio-molecular pathways triggered by radiation events and microgravity and will help to identify key molecules and membrane components, which are involved in the adaptation of these organisms to space conditions. While leveraging existing astrobiology and astrochemistry proven in-situ technology from the O/OREOS satellite and the OREOcube experiment on the ISS, EXOcube will have an advanced concept such as additional UV transmitting windows to expose organisms to a wider spectral range of radiation and a planned development for a miniaturized IR spectrometer, which will allow to investigate changes of relevant molecules. Impact: Outcomes from the EXOcube project will support current and upcoming ESA/NASA planetary and space exploration missions (e.g. ExoMars, Mars2020, JUICE) by: • • • • Providing valuable data for open issues concerning the survival of organisms to space conditions. Investigating photochemical processes of important biomolecules with relevance for the adaptation of life forms to space conditions and the origin of life. Investigating the stability of primitive cell membrane constituents under space conditions. Supporting planetary exploration by studying organisms used for life support systems and organic components with a potential for radiation shielding technology. EXOcube is selected by the European Space Agency (ESA) for the definition phase for installation on the ISS in the 2017-2020 period. Kerr5 1California Polytechnic – San Luis Obispo, 2 NASA- Goddard Space Flight Center, MD, 3University of Wisconsin- Madison, 4Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University- Daytona, 5Scientific Solutions Inc., 6University of Illinois- Urbana-Champaign Science Mission Overview Cal Poly’s 3U CubeSat Architecture • Design: Our entire aluminum-6061 structure was uniquely designed to be manufactured on-campus by PolySat students. Many components of the structure were only manufactured using on-campus tooling and equipment. The ExoCube mission is designed to acquire upper atmospheric global in-situ densities of light ion and neutral species (M<40). It will be launched on 1/29/15 from Vandenberg Airforce Base on a Delta II into a near polar ~440x675km orbit. Exocube’s expected minimum six-month mission lifetime will facilitate characterization and equinoxsolstice comparison of the key scientific objectives to be investigated: • upper atmospheric global, diurnal, and seasonal variability • O-H charge exchange processes • atmospheric responses to geomagnetic storms • validation of empirical and climatological atmospheric models • constraint of aeronomical parameters of interest from airglow observations to forward radiative transfer Fig 1: STK model view of ExoCube’s orbit passing modeling. over projected ground based observatories’ (red) • Engineering unit 1: For cost purposes we manufactured our entire engineering unit on campus. • Flight Unit: We manufactured our side panels and instrument chamber on campus. • Preparation: Detailed procedures were created and perfected on our engineering unit before working with flight hardware to create the flight model. and Cal Poly’s (white) field-of-view. • Instrument: The instrument was delivered to PolySat by NASA Goddard and was integrated into the environmental chamber with the help of a NASA liaison to ensure instrument functionality. • Flight Unit Build: Using detailed procedures, all of the spacecraft subsystems were built and fully tested. With all of the subassemblies completed, the flight unit was built in the class 100,000 cleanroom located at Cal Poly to ensure a clean environment. • Required Testing: Vibrations, Thermal Vacuum, and Shock testing were performed to satisfy Launch Vehicle and CubeSat Requirements. Fig 5: Picture of the Flight Model GSFC TOF-MS Instrument Design The dual ion and neutral mass spectrometer (MS) on ExoCube was designed at Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), weighs less than 1kg and uses under 2W power. It has a 20˚ field-of-view for the detection of ambient upper atmospheric fluxes that are predicted by MSIS. The neutral aperture includes an ion repeller and an ionization chamber where fluxes may be attenuated as necessary. Ionized neutrals and ions are accelerated by a ~200 Volt separation grate after which the gated time-of-flight (TOF)/ electrostatic analyzer (ESA) detector bins the TOF spectra corresponding to mass. The TOF-MS instrument measures ion and neutral spectra continuously with a 1 second time resolution, generating data at 1.6kB/spectrum. The spacecraft then stores selected data on a 16Gb radiation hardened solid state disk before transmitting to the ground station during overpasses. • Structure based on the HyperCube design, which was a previous senior project. • Structure was built around the Tyvak system board. • Environmental Chamber houses the mass spectrometer and protects it from the space environment. The chamber has four apertures to allow the flow of ions into and out of the instrument chamber. • Avionics consist of Cal Poly designed hardware. Optimized for small volume and low power to ensure it fits in the tight space and meets the power requirements of the spacecraft. • ADCS has three axis control using three magnetorquers, two gravity gradient booms, and a reaction wheel. • Control system uses solar angle sensors, magnetometers, and a rate gyro that feed into a Kalman filter.
