Навигационный космический аппарат Galileo PFM вращается вокруг направленной на Землю оси таким образом, что плоская поверхность солнечных батарей всегда обращена к Солнцу и получает максимальное количество солнечной энергии. Антенны в нижней части платформы, всегда направлены на Землю. Размеры платформы спутника –2,7 x 1,1 x 1,2м, в развернутом состоянии размах панелей солнечных батарей составляет 13 м.

Конструкция

  • Антенна L-диапазона передает навигационные сигналы частотой 1200-1600 МГц.
  • Антенна системы поиска и спасания (SAR) собирает сигналы бедствия наземных маяков и передает их на наземные станции для отправки в местные спасательные службы.
  • Антенна С-диапазона принимает сигналы, содержащие полетные данные со станций Galileo «Земля-спутник». Такие сигналы содержат информацию по синхронизации бортовых часов с наземными часами и данные о целостности системы, то есть о функционировании каждого спутника в данный момент. Информацию о целостности системы включают в навигационные сигналы для передачи пользователям.
  • Две антенны S-диапазона являются частью подсистемы телеметрии, слежения и управления. Они передают данные о служебных операциях полезной нагрузки и космического аппарата на наземные центры управления и в свою очередь принимают команды для работы с КА и ПН. Антенны S-диапазона также принимают, обрабатывают и передают сигналы дальнометрии, которые измеряют высоту спутника с точностью до нескольких метров.
  • Инфракрасные датчики и точные солнечные датчики удерживают спутник постоянно нацеленным на Землю. Это достигается за счет определения контраста между холодным открытым космосом и теплой земной атмосферой инфракрасными датчиками. Солнечные датчики представляют собой детекторы видимого излучения и измеряют углы между основанием и падающим солнечным светом.
  • Лазерный отражатель измеряет высоту орбиты спутника с точностью до нескольких сантиметров, отражая лазерный луч, исходящий с наземной станции. Лазерный отражатель используется только один раз в год, поскольку сигналы дальнометрии, получаемые с антенны S-диапазона, достаточно точны.
  • Космические излучатели представляют собой теплообменники, которые выделяют избыточное тепло, вырабатываемое блоками внутри космического аппарата, в открытый космос и, таким образом. способствуют нормальному функционированию этих блоков. 

Полезная нагрузка

  • Пассивные мазерные часы – основные часы на борту космического аппарата. Они представляют собой атомные часы, основанные на сверхстабильном переходе в атоме водорода частотой 1,4 ГГц и предназначенные для измерения времени с точностью до 0,45 нс за 12 часов.
  • Рубидиевые часы используются в случае сбоя в работе мазерных часов. Погрешность таких часов – 1,8 нс за 12 часов.

Аппарат оснащен четырьмя часами, по две пары каждого типа. Одновременно работают только двое часов – по одной паре из каждых двух. В нормальных условиях мазерные часы производят относительную частоту, из которой генерируется навигационный сигнал. Блок управления часами является связующим звеном между двумя парами часов и блоком навигационных сигналов (NSU). Он передает сигнал с активных мазерных часов на NSU и следит за синхронизацией частот мазерных и запасных часов.

Блоки навигационных сигналов, частот и преобразований управляют формированием сигналов на основании данных блока управления часами, сигналов «Земля-спутник» и информации о целостности системе с антенны С-диапазона.

Навигационные сигналы преобразуются в L-диапазон для передачи пользователям. Блок удаленного (дистанционного) терминала является посредником между всеми блоками полезной нагрузки и бортовым компьютером.

Служебный модуль SADM – приводной механизм, соединяющий солнечные батареи со спутником и медленно вращающий их таким образом, чтобы батареи были постоянно расположены перпендикулярно солнечным лучам. Гироскопы измеряют вращение спутника. Маховики контролируют вращение аппарата. Когда они вращаются, вращается и спутник. Он совершает два вращения за виток, для того чтобы солнечные батареи были параллельны солнечным лучам. Магнитный ограничитель корректирует скорость вращения маховиков за счет добавления крутящего момента в обратном направлении. Энергетический блок регулирует поток энергии, поступающей с солнечных батарей, и распределяет ее между всеми подсистемами аппарата и полезной нагрузкой. Бортовой компьютер управляет всеми аспектами функционирования спутника и полезной нагрузки.
