Спутник ФКИ. New Horizons Pluto Kuiper Belt Flyby. [Редактировать]

Автоматическая межпланетная станция НАСА, запущенная в рамках программы «Новые рубежи». Предназначена для изучения Плутона и его естественного спутника Харона. Полная миссия «Новых горизонтов» рассчитана на 15—17 лет. «Новые горизонты» покинул окрестности Земли с самой большой из всех космических аппаратов скоростью. В момент выключения двигателей она составила 16,26 км/с (относительно Земли). Гелиоцентрическая скорость составила 45 км/с, что позволило бы «Новым горизонтам» уйти из Солнечной системы даже без гравитационного манёвра, который он совершил около Юпитера. Однако текущая гелиоцентрическая скорость аппарата, 14,675 км/с (на 18 сентября 2014 года), меньше, чем скорость «Вояджера-1» — 17,02 км/с («Вояджер-1» набрал бо́льшую скорость за счёт дополнительного гравитационного манёвра у Сатурна).

Alice - чувствительный ультрафиолетовый спектрометр отображения, разработанный, чтобы исследовать состав и структуру динамичной атмосферы Плутона. В отличии от обычных спектрометров он также осуществляет съемку полученного спектра. Инструмент позволит обнаружить и определить количество множества важных атомных и молекулярных особенностей атмосферы Плутона. Элис также будет искать ионосферу вокруг Плутона и атмосферу вокруг спутника Харон. Осуществит замер атмеосферной температуры и плотности. Структурно прибор состоит из компактного телескопа, спектрографа и чувствительного электронного датчика с 1024 спектральными каналами. У Элис есть два способа
работы: способ “свечения неба”, который измеряет ультрафиолетовые излучения от атмосферных источников, и способ “затенения”, где прибор просматривает солнце через атмосферу планеты.

Ральф (система дистанционного зондирования) - главный инструмент аппарата. Должен создать карты Плутона, Хаарона и других объектов пояса Койпера. Прибор имеет три панхроматических, четыре мултиспектральных и один инфракрасный канал. Спеткрометр для прибора был предоставленн НАСА. В качестве средства съемки выступают четыре CCD матрицы. Есть возможность вести стереосъемку. Данная особенность должна помочь ученым в поисках облаков. Прибор также будет снимать поверхность планеты с затемнонной стороны (будет использоваться отраженный свет от спутника Хаарон).

REX состоит из маленькой печатной платы, содержащей сложную обрабатывающую сигнал электронику. Интегрированн в телекоммуникационную систему аппарата. Поскольку телекоммуникационная система избыточна, космический корабль несет на борту две копии прибора. Оба могут использоваться одновременно, чтобы улучшить получаемые данные. Принцип работы прибора основан на искажении сигнала с Земных станций атмосферой Плутона или его спутника Хаарон.

LORRI, панхроматическая камера. Состоит из телескопа с 20.8 сантиметровой аппретурой который сосредотачивает свет на CCD матрице. Съемка начнется приблизительно за 200 дней до сближения. Прибор позволит получить изображения в большем разрешении чем телескоп Хабл. Максимальное разрешение составит 50 метров на точку.

Измеритель параметров частиц солнечного ветра SWAP (Solar Wind Analyzer for Pluto), разработанный в Юго-западном исследовательском институте. С его помощью планируется определить, есть ли у Плутона магнитосфера, а также установить скорость утечки его атмосферы. Основной задачей, стоящей перед прибором является проверка гипотезы о том, что часть заряженных частиц проходит его атмосферу насквозь. Если так, то тогда планета должна вести себя как комета. Т.е. за ним должен быть газовый след.

Спектрометр энергетических частиц PEPSSI (Energetic Particle Spectrometer Science Investigation) создан для поиска нейтральных атомов, покидающих атмосферу Плутона и превращающихся в заряженные частицы при взаимодействии с солнечным ветром.

Детектор пыли SDC (Student Dust Counter) для измерения концентрации пылевых частиц в поясе Койпера. Прибор представляет собой веерообразное устройство радиусом 42 см и толщиной 3 мм из алюминиевого сотового материала, покрытого тонкой плёнкой, соединённое кабелем с блоком электроники.

Также в аппарате имеется система связи с Землёй, состоящая из передающих антенн и множества усилителей сигнала. Система связи имеет избыточную конструкцию — большинство ключевых устройств в системе связи продублировано, и в случае выхода из строя основных устройств их работу примут на себя запасные. Система позволит передавать данные на Землю со скоростью 38 кбит/с (4,75 кбайт/с) в районе Юпитера — скорость, сравнимая со скоростью устаревшего модема. По достижении Плутона аппарат сможет передавать данные со скоростью 768 бит/с (96 байт в секунду; 1 мегабайт будет передаваться примерно 3 часа). Это крайне маленькая скорость, но и она позволит передать на Землю ценные научные данные и даже высококачественные фотографии. Основу системы терморегулирования составляет многослойная оболочка. Температура аппарата будет составлять 10-30 градусов по цельсию. Нагрев будет осущетвляться за счет работы приборов. В качестве источника питания аппарата выступает система на основе плутония-238.

Установленная на аппарат нецелевая нагрузка:

  • В нижней части корабля закреплен контейнер с унцией пепла Клайда Томбо, открывателя Плутона и ряда астероидов. Надпись на контейнере гласит: «здесь находятся останки американца Клайда Томба, первооткрывателя Плутона, мужа Патрисии, отца Аннет и Олдена, астронома, учителя и каламбуриста. Клайд Томбо (1906-1997)».
  • 434 000 человек захотело принять участие в этом исследовательском проекте. Их имена были записаны на компакт-диск, который сейчас бороздит просторы космоса вместе с летательным аппаратом. 
  • Компакт-диск с фотографиями сотрудников проекта New Horizons.

4 июля по причине аномалий New Horizons перешел в работу в защищенном режиме и перестал отвечать на запросы с Земли. В связи с этим НАСА поспешила сделать заявление в котором сказано что:
1. Связь с аппаратом восстановлена приблизительно через два часа после потери.
2. Коммуникационное отключение питания было инициировано проблемой с основным компьютером аппарата. Вследствие чего автоматическая система перевела спутник в безопасный режим и переключила аппарат на работу с резервным компьютером.

Представители NASA сообщили, что по их мнению космический аппарат New Horizons должен 7 июля вернуться в нормальный режим функционирования после компьютерного сбоя.
Сбой, произошедший 4 июля, заставил систему аварийной защиты перевести бортовую систему в безопасный режим. К настоящему времени NASA удалось восстановить связь с аппаратом, однако пока что спутник не передает на Землю научных данных.
При этом, анализ телеметрии с зонда показал, что проблема не была вызвана аппаратными или программными сбоями в работе New Horizons, что является очень хорошей новостью. Проблема, как отмечают в НАСА, возникла из-за неправильного "расписания" исполнения команд, которые были переданы на зонд перед началом его сближения с Плутоном.
