Спутник ДЗЗ. USA 267. [Редактировать]

FIA (Future Imagery Architecture) – программа по проектированию нового поколения оптических и радарных разведывательных спутников США в интересах NRO (National Reconnaissance Office), идущих на смену спутникам Lacrosse / Onyx, которые выработали свой ресурс. Спутники FIA предназначены для мониторинга территорий в самых сложных погодных условиях и условиях освещённости. 
В настоящее время на орбитах находятся несколько американских радиолокационных КА типа Topaz (FIA Radar). Данные о конструкции, назначении и тактико-технических характеристиках КА Topaz в материалах открытых источников отсутствуют. Зарубежными независимыми аналитиками военной космической программы США высказывается предположение, что КА данного типа являются спутниками видовой радиолокационной разведки (SAR).
Первоначально проектом по развитию группировки занималась корпорация Боинг (в проекте было задействовано около 5000 инженеров, техников и программистов), однако, после того, как Конгресс обнаружил перерасход средств по данным работам в размере 4 млрд. долл. (общая сумма затрат составила около 10 млрд. долл., первоначальная стоимость программы была 6 млрд. долл., дополнительные средства были изьяты из других разведовательных программ), то было принято решение передать часть работ lockheed Martin, а Боинг выплатить 500 млн. долл. на прекращение разработки. 
Кроме этого, согласно проектной документации компании Боинг аппараты должны были весить около 15-и тонн, срок их производства занимал около 18 месяцев, а стоимость создания одного изделия составляла около 1 млрд. долл. Представленное слева изображение аппарата соответствует раннему прототипу изделия которое разрабатывалось компанией Боинг. 
Также NRO отказалось от создания в рамках программы оптико-электронной полезной нагрузки (контракт был передан Lockheed Martin, которая должна была модифицировать спутники серии KH-11).
Также известно что, РСА этой серии обычно выводятся на ретроградную орбиту высотой 1 100 км. При сохранении углов обзора 30…60° такая орбита позволяет расширить полосу обзора на 1/3 при энергетическом проигрыше менее 2 дБ благодаря увеличению дальности до земной поверхности. Анализ характеристик ракет-носителей, с помощью которых осуществлялся запуск FIA Radar, показывает, что масса КА с новым РСА не может превышать 8 т. При этом по техническим характеристикам новое изделие оказалось во многом схожим с Lacrosse.
Стоимость программы 10-18 млрд. долл.

Specifications The HFL-EQ model is a horizontal front loading, external quench, vacuum heat treating and brazing furnace generally designed for high production commercial and captive heat treating shops. It is a high temperature, high vacuum, batch type furnace with electric resistance heating elements. Hot Zone Operating temperature: 2400°F • Maximum temperature: 2500°F • Temperature uniformity: approximately ±10°F • Hearth: molybdenum support pins and graphite rails • Heating elements: curved graphite bands • Insulation: four (4) layers of 0.5” high purity graphite felt • Hot Face: 0.040” thick Flex Shield carbon fiber reinforced graphite foil sheet • Insulation and heating elements are mounted on a heavy duty stainless steel support structure • HFL-EQ Series Vacuum Heat Treating & Brazing Furnace Vacuum Chamber Double wall, water cooled, horizontal front loading vacuum chamber. Hinged front door with pneumatically operated, autoclave-type locking ring to permit the furnace to safely quench at positive pressures up to 15 PSIG (2-bar). Oversized water inlets and outlets assure maximum water flow. Gas Quenching System The external gas quench system provides the lowest resistance, highest efficiency gas flow in the industry. An appropriately sized motor drives a high-speed radial fan to recirculate the quench gas straight through the water-to-gas heat exchanger and then into the hot zone at high velocity. The tapered graphite gas nozzles are specifically directed at the work load for optimum cooling.
