It seems it has become trendy to bring operating systems from one platform to another, in unsupported projects made by the user community. We have already seen how hackintosh builds tried to copy a Mac Pro using PC parts, so Apple’s operating system could be installed on them.

Now the developer Miguel C has used the project Snapintosh to put macOS 27 on a laptop with a Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme processor.

The project has been going for a few weeks, and with this update most of the graphics problems have been solved, though it still needs work on performance. The user is running the latest version of Apple’s operating system, known as Golden Gate, on an ASUS Zenbook A16 that has Qualcomm’s most powerful processor.

The developer tells us he has made big progress since September, since at the start he could barely get it to boot. The new screenshots show the system now reaches the working interface with the Liquid Glass layer, drawn using the hardware of this laptop made for Windows, and with hardware acceleration using the GPU of this Snapdragon processor.

It seems this project can also run on older Qualcomm processors, like the original Snapdragon. The user has also said it can be brought to Android tablets. If you have wanted to use macOS and only have a PC with a Snapdragon or an Android tablet, this could be your chance to install it on your device and enjoy the benefits of Apple’s operating system.
