The Ski Week in Ísafjörður has a long and cherished history. It has been held almost continuously since 1935, when the Ísafjörður Ski Club invited people from all over the country to Ísafjörður to “breathe in the wonderful high‑mountain air of the West and race at full speed down the magnificent ski slopes found here,” as described in a news paper article published on April 2nd, 1935. This tradition remains a cornerstone of the town’s Easter celebrations, drawing skiers and spectators alike.
Aldrei fór ég suður - Direct translation: "I never went South", has been happening in Ísafjörður every Easter since 2004. It started as just a one-night thing, but it's been getting bigger and better ever since.
Throughout the Easter break—you’ll find plenty of off‑venue events, pop‑up happenings, and local celebrations that bring extra life to the streets.
