Are you planning to watch the Freedom 250 Grand Prix this Sunday afternoon? That’s when IndyCar Racing takes place on the streets of Washington D.C. in celebration of the USA’s 250th anniversary. I know I’m really looking forward to it!

A short Reuters video captures the preparations as the busy streets around the National Mall are transformed into a safe racing environment for both drivers and spectators.

The 1.7-mile course was still under construction as shown Wednesday when this video was taken. The shot captures construction workers who are smoothing out the course as this White Stingray comes into view with the Capitol Dome in the background.

The videographer must be a Corvette fan as another shot looks to be where Chevrolet will be setting up their product display. In the foreground is Black ZR1 parked in front of Black ZR1X while across the street in the background is an Arctic White Z06 and we assume a Grand Sport and another Stingray.

As far as the racing action goes, practice and qualifying will take place on Saturday and then The Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington D.C. will get started at 1:10 PM ET. FOX will be broadcasting live beginning at 1:00 PM ET.
