Achilito’s Taqueria 

A local Mexican chain is expanding with a fourth location, bringing burritos, bowls, and more to the border of Fenway and Back Bay. Achilito’s Taqueria’s latest spot, joining outposts in Cambridge, Foxborough, and Jamaica Plain, will open within the space of the now-shuttered Little Steve’s Pizzeria. If the other menus are any hint, expect the usual Mexican favorites like quesadillas and flautas with some fun riffs (mango spinach bowls, anyone?).

Boston Fry House 

Need proof that just about everything tastes better fried? Head to Chinatown and dig into heaps of golden fried clams, calamari, and chicken nuggets. The fry shack, which focuses on chicken and fresh seafood, opened in August. And the fry baskets have been in full swing, cooking fries, chicken tenders, and other American comfort foods to crisp perfection. The all-day menu sees hamburgers on offer, too.

Bottega Cannuccia

After debuting in 2023, Italian trattoria Via Cannuccia soon scored lots of fans of its pastas, and square, Roman-style pizza—from roasted mushroom white pizza to red pies with house-made San Marzano tomato sauce–crafted by chef-owner and Italian native, Stefano Quaresima. Besides knowing his way around the pizza pan, Quaresima is a whiz at crafting pastries. Just pop in for weekend brunch for perfect croissants (plain, and also stuffed with pastry creams and topped with fruit), plus muffins, cinnamon rolls, and Italian pastries. Soon, Quaresima’s crafts aren’t limited to just the weekends when he opens Bottega Cannuccia in the former Home.stead Bakery space in Fields Corner. By day, the spot will serve coffee, tea, pastries and sandwiches on fresh bread, before transitioning to a wine bar and small-plates restaurant in the evening. Can’t wait until the weekend? The Daily Market in Dorchester stocks Quaresima’s pastries, too.

Kima Café  

Third wave coffee—a movement that treats coffee like fine wine with a focus on terroir, blends, and natural flavors—is on the mind at this upcoming Somerville café which opens mid September in the former Fortissimo Coffeehouse. Perk up, because the company behind the cups is a familiar one: Glasser Coffee Co. serves specialty coffee and drinks in Brighton (espresso drinks, lavender lattes, matcha, and Vietnamese iced coffee). Drinks at Kima will look to Korea and across Asia for influence. The café will feature a food menu, too. Founder Alex Kim co-owns Coreanos, with restaurants in Allston and Framingham that feature traditional Korean dishes and more fusion-forward fare like kimchi and tofu tacos. Session House

Heads up for those who like meals with a side of music. A new Irish restaurant is coming to Dorchester within the Scobies space—which quietly closed early 2026 and never reopened—and along with elevated pub fare, live performances will be on the menu. The bar and restaurant will bring in both traditional Irish musicians and more contemporary performers to entertain diners as the Guinness flows.
