Married At First Sight's Billy Vincent has recalled a tense encounter he had recently with a man believed to be a friend of Todd Carney's.

Billy has previously criticised Todd in the media, after it emerged the disgraced NRL player was secretly dating his on-screen wife Susie Bradley.

And speaking to Nova 96.9's Fitzy & Wippa on Wednesday, the 28-year-old barista claimed that 'one of [Todd's] mates' confronted him at work.

'I think one of his mates walked by my restaurant when I was packing up the chairs and he had some choice words to say to me,' Billy recalled.

'I had said a few little quips to a reporter about how you can really judge Susie's character by the people she hangs around with, and I think one of his mates had something to say and was like, "Oh you've got big words to reporters, don't you mate?"'

Billy then claimed he asked the man if was 'taking the p**s', before he walked away. 

Billy said the exchange didn't upset him, however, and joked that the man was probably one of Todd's 'bubbler boys'.

This was, of course, a reference to Todd's infamous 'bubbling incident'. 

In 2014, the rugby league star's career was derailed when a photo surfaced online of him urinating in his own mouth - a practice known as 'bubbling'. 

Susie was first spotted kissing Todd outside a Brisbane hotel the morning after Valentine's Day. At the time, she was still 'married' to Billy on MAFS. 

The 25-year-old nurse confirmed her relationship with the footy bad boy earlier this month, sharing a loved-up photo of the couple to Facebook.

Married At First Sight was filmed several months ago, and it is unclear exactly when Susie broke up with Billy and began dating Todd.
