The genome sequence of Penthophera morio (Linnaeus, 1767) (Lepidoptera: Erebidae) [version 1; peer review: 1 approved]

We present a genome assembly from a female specimen of Penthophera morio (Arthropoda; Insecta; Lepidoptera; Erebidae). The assembly contains two haplotypes with total lengths of 435.98 megabases and 403.90 megabases. For haplotypes 1 and 2, respectively, 99.87% and 99.91% of the assembly sequence was scaffolded into 29 and 27 chromosomal pseudomolecules; haplotype 1 includes the W and Z sex chromosomes. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 16.4 kilobases. This work is part of Project Psyche, a collaborative programme generating genomes for European butterflies and moths.
