The genome sequence of the Scotch broom bruchid, Bruchidius villosus (Fabricius, 1792) (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) [version 1; peer review: 1 approved]

We present a genome assembly from an individual female Bruchidius villosus (Scotch broom bruchid; Arthropoda; Insecta; Coleoptera; Chrysomelidae). The assembly contains two haplotypes with total lengths of 972.79 megabases and 962.34 megabases. Most of the haplotype 1 assembly (97.46%) was scaffolded into 10 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the X sex chromosome. Haplotype 2 was assembled to scaffold level. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 16.72 kilobases. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland.
