Dry and sunny conditions are expected to round out the start of the week in the Chicago area, though dense fog blanketing some areas could impact visibility for drivers.
“Almost perfect you could say, as far as the conditions go for a fall-like day,” said NBC 5 Storm Team Meteorologist Pete Sack. “It’s going to be a beautiful day overall.”
Saturday started off with slightly cooler temperatures, but they’re expected to rise to a high in the low 70s, though areas near the lake will stay a bit colder.
“Pretty good conditions for the golfers out there [at the Presidents Cup], pretty good conditions for anything you’ve got planned today,” Sack said.
Partly cloudy skies are expected overnight as temperatures drop down into the high 40s and low 50s before another sunny day on Monday.
NWS also warned dense fog is covering parts of northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana and is likely to linger through Sunday morning.
The fog is expected to impact McHenry, Lake, Dekalb, Dupage, LaSalle, Will, Cook and Kankakee counties in Illinois and Porter and Lake counties in Indiana, officials said.
Anyone traveling in the area is urged to use caution as the fog could limit visibility, NWS said.
Sack said the fog will likely burn off throughout the day as temperatures rise, but officials warned it could come back overnight.
