Nvidia says it set a “high bar” for any browser integrating GeForce Now without added programs, and Firefox has seemingly met its standards as in-browser support for the game streaming service goes live.

GeForce Now isn’t new to browsers. Chrome has supported the game streaming service since 2021, even if the GeForce Now standalone app has been made available for nearly every OS at this point. But access from a browser like Google Chrome just plays further into the idea that Nvidia’s GeForce Now works just about anywhere with good internet.

GeForce Now’s list now includes Firefox on Windows machines, as Mozilla and Nvidia announced that the browser officially supports cloud gaming. There’s little to do on the user’s end – connect to GeForce Now’s website and start playing. It’s expected to perform similarly to other avenues of play, and it should play nicely with multiple tabs open at the same time. Nvidia says Premium members can expect up to 1440p and 120 frames per second in-browser.

Mozilla does give a hint as to why the integration has taken some time beyond the simple fact that it isn’t Chromium-based. Firefox has been built to stand on privacy and granular user controls, and cloud gaming can demand a lot in terms of performance and data, as massive titles need the bandwidth for millisecond response. Nvidia also notes that it “set a high bar for browser support” in the same press release.

This seems to be the latest in a long string of partnerships with Nvidia. Recently, the company announced integration with Fire TV and said the GeForce Now app is available to play on more TVs with third-party streamers.

Unlike on TVs, streaming GeForce Now through Firefox doesn’t require a controller. It’s the same story as in Google Chrome and on the standalone app.

Nvidia and Mozilla say there’s more ahead for those who prefer to stream their games.
