Hi Alfred Team,I’ve been building and maintaining a massive, complex personal Alfred workflow system integrated with a PHP backend for over 10 years. It currently manages around 1,000 endpoints, covering everything from Media DB management, IoT control, and external APIs.To handle a vast number of contextual features, many items in my workflow utilize heavy modifier key combinations (cmd, alt, shift, ctrl, fn).The Problem:
As you know, if a specific modifier combination (e.g., cmd+alt) is not explicitly defined in the mods object, Alfred defaults to executing the primary arg and variables when a user presses that key combination and hits Enter. To prevent this unintended behavior and completely block unused modifiers, my backend has to programmatically populate every single unused modifier combination with {"valid": false} for every single item. When outputting lists, this redundant boilerplate data dramatically inflates the JSON payload size and causes unnecessary processing overhead. The Suggestion:
It would be incredibly powerful if Alfred could introduce a new optional flag at the item level (or root level), such as "skipmods": true (or "strictmods": true). When this flag is enabled:Alfred will only trigger the modifier combinations explicitly defined in the mods object.Any undefined modifier keys pressed by the user will be ignored, and pressing Enter will not trigger the fallback/primary arg. This small addition would significantly clean up JSON structures for power users, reduce payload data transfer sizes, and eliminate the need for verbose defensive coding in complex backend integrations.Thank you for always making Alfred the best productivity tool on macOS!
