Honda has added a new trim to its Canadian-market 11th-generation Civic lineup for 2027. The Sport-L trim brings premium features at a lower price point, while a sibling trim, the Sport Touring Hybrid, gains new technology. The updated sedan and hatchback models will arrive at dealerships shortly, with Sport-L deliveries expected before the end of 2026.

The Sport-L sedan slots between the entry-level LX and the Sport Hybrid. It continues with the naturally aspirated 150-hp 2.0L four-cylinder engine, paired exclusively with a continuously variable transmission. The version adds several premium interior features, including leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, and silver-coloured cabin accents.

For the hatchback body-style, the Sport-L becomes the new entry-level trim. In addition to the features included with the sedan, it receives dual-zone automatic climate control and a heated steering wheel. Until now, much of this equipment had been reserved for the higher-priced hybrid variants.

The 2027 Civic sedan lineup starts with the LX, which comes with an MSRP of $29,090, or $32,544 including freight and fees, making it now the least expensive Civic available in Canada. The Sport-L sedan is priced at $33,550 before fees, and $37,004 with them included.

Hatchback pricing now begins at $35,300 for the Sport-L, rising to $38,754 after freight and fees.

Honda is also adding S+ Shift to the Civic Sport Touring Hybrid for 2027, itself priced from $40,100 ($43,557 with fees). First offered on the 2026 Prelude, the drive mode is designed to reproduce responses expected from a performance-oriented transmission. It simulates gear changes, virtual rev-matched downshifts, and the ability to hold gears, all of which work impressively well. The system also adjusts engine sounds to give the driver additional feedback.

Hybrid models now account for half of all Civic sales in Canada, according to Honda. The electrified Civic was also selected as the 2025 North American Car of the Year.
