On OpenVMS there is a legacy software for administrative and Student Information System called POISE- Which operating system will be running on the target system (Windows, Linux, or something else)?They are fine with using any operating system on the new server. They are currently running VMware on some newer systems (especially from the old DS25).But ultimately, they have even migrated from this “newer” hardware to a cloud data hosting solution called Ellucian Colleague Cloud.- What format is the data currently stored in?More than likely, it is some sort of file-level data- Are you planning a simple data migration, or are you looking to preserve and run the existing OpenVMS environment ?They want to secure a dependable copy, backup, virtual machine, or file-level replication of the legacy system and data before the hardware fails, without immediately attempting a full data transformation- Are you evaluating a migration to a native OpenVMS x86-64 environment?All options are on the table! Whatever solution makes the most sense for preserving the data and moving it to a new DL380 or to a cloud environment. I am wondering whether your goal is actually to virtualize the DS25 environment on a Windows or Linux host. If so:- Which virtualization or emulation product are you considering?All options are on the table! Currently it is not connected.
