A suspect is in custody after a fatal shooting this month near a business in the central Las Vegas Valley.

Levante Davidson, 32, was arrested Wednesday and being held at the Clark County Detention Center for one count of open murder with a deadly weapon, according to a Metropolitan Police Department release.

The shooting occurred just after 8:05 p.m. Oct. 4 near a business in the 300 block of South Decatur Boulevard, just off Meadows Lane. While responding officers were trying to find the crime scene, the victim — identified by the Clark County coroner’s office as William Westry, 43 — was driven to a local hospital by another person. He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Davidson is scheduled to appear in court Friday at the Regional Justice Center.
