The Metropolitan Police Department was searching for the suspect who fatally shot a man Wednesday after a reported altercation outside of a business near Sunrise Manor in east Las Vegas, police said.

Metro Lt. Robert Price said at a briefing Wednesday night that police responded to the 4700 block of East Owens Avenue, near North Nellis Boulevard, after receiving a ShotSpotter notification of gunshots and a subsequent 911 call around 7:30 p.m.

“It appears the victim was walking outside of the business while the suspects were walking towards the business,” Price said. “At some point in time, words were exchanged and a physical confrontation ensued, resulting in the suspect pulling out a firearm and shooting our victim. That suspect then got into his car and fled the scene.”

Price said the victim, described as a male in his 20s, was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

He added that Metro detectives were reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses but could not provide a description of the suspect.

Price encouraged anyone with information to contact Metro’s homicide unit or Crime Stoppers of Nevada.
