It may be one of the world's oldest and most prestigious A-lister events, but when it comes to the red carpet, the Venice Film Festival is just as much about the fashion as it is about the movies.

The 83rd occasion, organised by La Biennale di Venezia, took place on the Lido di Venezia from September 2 – and over the course of ten days, 21 films brought a dazzling array of stars to the Italian city.

Leading the charge was Pamela Anderson, who delivered a steady stream of bold statements with five mesmerising looks, including a burnt-orange custom Calvin Klein dress, a stunning lilac chiffon frock and an androgynous three-piece suit.

But while other celebrities like Kendall Jenner and Nina Dobrev appeared to have nailed the dress code, some seemed to have missed the memo altogether with daring personal grooming choices, bizarre ensembles and a risqué 'less is more' approach.

Singer Phoebe Bridgers, 32, stunned photographers when she stepped onto the red carpet showing off her unshaven legs, while Nicola Peltz posed for pictures alongside husband Brooklyn Beckham in a bold cut-out cobalt blue gown by Balenciaga.
