Axis Securities remains constructive on HDFC Bank’s medium-term outlook, citing Q2 margin stabilisation, improving operating productivity and stronger retail/MSME momentum as key drivers of a gradual earnings recovery. A higher share of floating-rate loans, an improving loan mix and focused CASA deposit mobilisation are expected to support margins. The appointment of Anup Bagchi as MD & CEO addresses the leadership overhang, with execution on retail growth, deposit mobilisation and net interest margin (NIM) improvement remaining crucial.
The brokerage expects RoA to improve to 1.8–1.9% over FY27–FY29 and believes the stock’s current valuation offers a favourable risk-reward, with limited downside amid improving branch productivity, a strengthening deposit franchise and best-in-class asset quality.
