These slimmer kidney grilles look similar to the ones seen on the new iX3 and 3-series.

The side profile is mostly recognizable as an X5, but the new winglet-shaped door handles integrated into the window frame make for an exceptionally smooth look.

These X-shaped LED accent lights make for a distinctive face.

The X5 will launch with a 40 model available with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

The turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six makes 394 horsepower.

There’s also a plug-in hybrid model called the xDrive 50e, but we haven’t driven that yet.

BMW also launched an electric version of the X5 for this generation. It’s called the iX5, and we review it separately.

The X5’s badging looks different than before, because the 40 moniker goes next to the model name and the xDrive label is now on the opposite side of the liftgate.

This fetching hue is called Vancouver Green Metallic.

All of BMW’s SUVs have “X” in the name, so these headlights make sure that you know what you’re looking at.
