RefSeq release 234 is now available online and from the FTP site! You can access RefSeq data through NCBI Datasets. The release is provided in several directories as a complete dataset and also as divided by logical groupings.    

What’s included in this release?  

As of March 16, 2026, this full release incorporates genomic, transcript, and protein data containing:   

• 598,345,955 records  
• 459,415,871 proteins  
• 78,720,166 RNAs  
• Sequences from 176,395 organisms  

This release contains new or updated annotations generated by NCBI’s eukaryotic genome annotation pipeline for 37 species, including:  

• Eurasian badger (pictured), based on updated assembly mMelMel3.2_paternal_haplotype (GCF_922984935.2-RS_2026_02)   
• Grey reef shark, based on new assembly sCarAmb.v2.hapA (GCF_965287045.1-RS_2026_02) 
• European river lamprey, based on new assembly kcLamFluv1.1 (GCF_964198595.1-RS_2026_01) 
• Antedon bifida, based on new assembly ecAntBifi1.1 (GCF_963402885.1-RS_2026_01) 
• Green hydra, based on new assembly jhHydViri1.1 (GCF_964215635.1-RS_2026_02) 
• Prickly lettuce, based on new assembly Lser_US96UC23_V15 (GCF_051521515.1-RS_2026_02)
