(LifeSiteNews) — A Conservative MP said “Christianity is being targeted” in Canada and called out Prime Minister Mark Carney’s silence after yet another church was recently reduced to ashes.

“Another church has been lost in Canada,” Alberta Conservative MP Shuv Majumdar said in an X post.

“For nearly 70 years, All Saints Orthodox Church was a vessel for worship, community, charity and fellowship. Families were baptized there, married there, mourned there, raised funds there and came together in service to one another.”

Majumdar pointed out that more than “100 churches have been burned, vandalized or desecrated across Canada in recent years.”

“Christianity is being targeted, and cowardly silence has become an enabler,” he emphasized. 

Majumdar then said there has “been no urgency from Prime Minister @MarkJCarney and Minister @Gary_SRP,” on the matter of church burnings.

He noted that those who “burn churches to condemn ‘hatred’ become the embodiment of that hatred.”

“Protect our churches. Prosecute those responsible,” he added. 

As reported by LifeSiteNews, a fire recently destroyed 68-year-old All Saints Orthodox Church in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan. The church was filled with priceless artwork and icons.

The church was only a stone’s throw from the Flying Dust First Nation and was reduced to ruins, leaving the community and parishioners devastated.

As of today, no cause for the fire has been determined. Local media reported that Meadow Lake Fire Chief Joe Grela said that “No cause has been determined at this point.”

The fire occurred on September 30, the federal holiday “truth and reconciliation” day. This holiday was created by the government of former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to bring attention to the legacy of indigenous residential schools.

In November 2025, Conservative Member of Parliament (MP) Kelly Block introduced Private Members Bill C-255 that would increase penalties for criminals who are convicted of mischief directed at places of worship in Canada. This bill is stalled in Canada’s House of Commons.

The Meadow Lake church fire is just the latest in what appear to be attacks on Christian places of worship in Canada. In August, a historic century-old Catholic church in New Brunswick burned to the ground in an incident that authorities are saying could be an act of arson.

In 2021 and 2022, the mainstream media ran with inflammatory and dubious claims that hundreds of children were buried and disregarded by Catholic priests and nuns who ran some Canadian residential schools. The reality is that, after four years, there have been no mass graves discovered at residential schools.

However, as the claims went unfounded, over 130 churches, most of them Catholic and many of them on indigenous lands that serve the local population, have been burned to the ground, vandalized, or defiled in Canada since the spring of 2021.
