The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) announced a protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on 10 October 2026, demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Delhi Police denied permission and detained thousands of protesters, including three CJP leaders. With Jantar Mantar barricaded, some protesters gathered elsewhere. On 12 October, opposition leaders also marched to the Supreme Court against the SIR exercise, but police stopped them (here, here, here, here).
In this context, visuals showing crowds are being shared on social media with the claim that they show gatherings at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and outside Parliament House (here, here, here). Let’s verify these videos.
Claim: Visuals showing anti-CEC protestors gathering outside Parliament and Jantar Mantar.
Fact: These videos are AI-generated, not real visuals. No media reports mentioned the viral video or any protest by the public against the CEC inside the Parliament premises. Hence, the claims made in these posts are FALSE.
