The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) announced a protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on 10 October 2026, demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Delhi Police denied permission for the demonstration and detained thousands of people, including CJP leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, who were detained after arriving at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International AIRPORT. With Jantar Mantar barricaded, some demonstrators protested at other locations. The three leaders were released on 11 October 2026 while the Supreme Court directed authorities to uphold the rights of peaceful protesters. On 12 October 2026, opposition leaders led a march towards the Supreme Court against the SIR exercise, but police stopped them before they reached the court amid heightened security and temporary metro station closures (here, here, here, and here).
In this context, a video showing people breaking through barricades and advancing is being shared on social media (here, here, and here) with the claim that it shows visuals from the protests in Delhi on 11 October 2026. Let’s verify the truth behind the video in this article.
The archived post can be found here.Claim: The video shows people breaking through barricades and advancing during the protests in Delhi on 11 October 2026.
Fact: The video predates the October 2026 protests in Delhi and shows a farmers’ protest in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, in July 2026. The farmers were demanding 100% government procurement of moong crops at the Minimum Support Price (MSP), a legal guarantee for MSP and the cancellation of the e-token system, among other demands. The protest was later called off following talks with the government and assurances regarding their demands. Hence, the claim made in the post is Misleading.
A reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video led us to multiple social media posts (here, here, and here) from July 2026 featuring the same visuals from a different angle. This confirms that the viral video predates the October 2026 protests in Delhi and is unrelated to them. According to these posts, the video shows a farmers’ protest in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, over demands including a legal guarantee for the Minimum Support Price (MSP), 100% government procurement of moong crops and the cancellation of the e-token system. The posts also state that protesters were stopped about seven kilometres from the Chief Minister’s residence and were sitting on the road with food and water.

We then conducted a Google search using relevant keywords and found multiple media reports (here, here, and here) stating that the farmers were protesting to demand 100% procurement of their moong (green gram) crop at the Minimum Support Price (MSP), among other demands. The farmers had marched from Narmadapuram to Bhopal, seeking the abolition of the e-token system for crop procurement and fertiliser distribution.
A report published by Dainik Bhaskar in July 2026 carried visuals from the same location and reported that a large crowd had gathered during a farmers’ protest against the moong procurement and fertiliser token system, with people breaking through police barricades and advancing. Other media reports stated that the farmers later called off their protest following talks with the government and assurances regarding their demands.

To sum up, a July 2026 video of a farmers’ protest in Bhopal is shared as showing the CJP protests in Delhi on 11 October 2026.
